O BTV é um fermentado de emulsão de dejetos (estercos) animais, extratos vegetais, cinza de lenha, microrganismos, leite e açúcar.

Por ser bem concentrado e muito rico em matéria orgânica fresca fermentada, ele cheira bosta de vaca fresca, porém ele deve ser utilizado bem diluído (2%). Após ser diluído, seu cheiro fica muito mais suave, quase imperceptível. Quando aplicado não se nota.
